As I was playing around with the developer preview of Windows 8 on the Samsung device I received on BUILD, I created my first metro app – “Screenshot Share“. It does pretty much what it claims – helps you easily upload Window 8 screenshots online though via the share charm.
Here’s how to install and use the app:
- Download the app here: http://win8review.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/ScreenshotShare.zip
- Extract the files to your local disk
- Open Windows command prompt (cmd.exe) as administrator
- Go to the folder you’ve extracted and run Add-AppxDevPackage.bat
- The app is now installed

Now you can press PrintScreen anywhere to take a snapshot of your desktop, invoke the share charm, paste the screenshop by pressing the paste button and upload it online. Sometimes Windows 8 will take the screenshot for you (if app doesn’t support sharing), but in this case share UI flyout will obscure part of the app.
All screenshots that you’ve taken are stored online. You can see the list by starting the Screenshot Share app. You can easily share URLs of the screenshots by using the share charm. In the main screen last taken screenshot is automatically shared. You can also select any specific screenshot form the list and share it’s URL.

The application is still “work in progress” and I’ll periodically update it. Once I do you will get a notification when you start the app.
If you have any feedback or suggestions – leave me a comment here.
Happy sharing!

Hi guy, I tried to install your app, but I encountered an error: I need to have a developer account to use it. is it possible to avoid it?
silvio,
You need to start the Visual Developer studio once. It will ask you if you would like to activate developer certificate and ask for admin credentials. Once this is done, the app will install
Will there be other instrument apps for the windows 8 tablet like the IPad has?
