Task Manager Professional is a project and task management app. I think that it would be a good addition to the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet or Windows 8 Pro PC’s. Success of this app will depend on how well-received Windows 8 is in the business sector. The Surface tablet has the option of a keyboard cover, so they serve as a portable, hybrid tablet and laptop.
Task Manager Professional is accessible for both touch screen and non touch screen Windows 8 devices. The instructions on the screen tell you to “swipe” or “right click” to access the menu options in the app. I like this because it can be used by the handful of users who upgraded their non touch screen computers to Windows 8.
The purpose of this app is pretty straightforward, and the interface is simple. The menu options are hidden, which limits clutter. You can manage projects, tasks, sub tasks, and quick tasks all in one place. If you need to refer to a project or task quickly, add it to the Start Screen using the menu option available in the app.
All tasks and projects are searchable. You can create tags to group similar topics together. You can also set Toast notifications. Those are pop up alerts that are found in the Android OS, but they are pretty much universal across different communication and task-based software programs.
Task Manager Professional does not require internet connectivity, which is a step above many web based project management apps.. So, on the rare occasions that you don’t have access to wireless or broadband connection, you can still access projects.
There are a number of professional organization apps out there. This one is free and easy to use.
