Jujuba Software Screen Sleep Preventer is a small but very useful app. It prevents the screen and your entire computer from "going to sleep". By keeping this app snapped alongside another app or website you want to constantly observe but which doesn't properly power manage the machine itself.
Starting this small free little app is easier than manually tweaking power savings settings temporarily. This is especially true for Windows RT based devices that may not have mouse and keyboard for efficiently navigating the desktop where these settings reside.
We realized the need for this app when keeping track of 2012 presidential elections via interactive browser maps. Without this app the screens would just go off.

I use this app all the time when listening to music or watching a video. It is so convenient and easy to use. To shut it off all you have to do is slid it off the side screen or go to task manager and turn it off there. I love this app!

Avoids messing about with sleep settings every time you want to listen to a radio broadcast on BBC iPlayer or whatever. Simply open this; snap it to one side and your Surface won't shut down until you want it to.
